We serve grades 6 through 12.
Do you have address boundaries that you pull your students from?
No, our entire student population attends our school on a waiver. The waiver indicates to the district office that our students wish to attend our school instead of the comprehensive middle school or high school they are assigned to that is based on their address. We give priority to students that live within the Clover Park School District boundaries.
Is there tuition or an entrance exam?
Since we are a public school, our school is free to attend. There is no entrance exam; the only things that would prevent your student from attending Harrison Prep would be if we did not have room for your student in that particular grade, we cannot offer the classes your student needs in order to earn a diploma or we do not have the necessary resources to meet the identified individual instructional needs of your student.
Where are you located?
We moved to our brand new building in January 2015. We are located at 9103 Lakewood Dr SW in Lakewood, WA in the south west corner of the Clover Park Technical College campus (or campus is separate from the CPTC campus). Be careful putting our name into your GPS, there is a chance that it will take you to our old building on 121st St.
What are your hours?
School is in session from 8:45am to 3:15pm. Our office is open 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday (except on holidays and breaks).
Where do your buses go?
Our buses service the entire Clover Park School District which means the majority of the city of Lakewood as well as Joint Base Lewis McCord.
Do you have sports teams at your school?
Due to our size, we do not offer varsity sports at our school. We do have after school activities that include a variety of clubs that vary based on interest.
Are the middle school students and high school students integrated in the school?
Yes. Our school is designed as a seamless transition from 8th to 9th grade. Harrison Prep hallways are divided by departments and middle school and high school students share the hallways. Our lunches are generally split between middle school and high school students however due to class sizes and class schedules some middle school students will eat lunch with the high school students.
I’ve heard you are an IB Certified school, what does that mean?
Harrison Prep is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) certified school. All of our classes follow the Common Core curriculum mandated by the state of Washington in addition to the IB program. Our primary focus is to build our students into life-long learners, provide them with the skills they need to succeed at the post-secondary education level and think with a globally minded point of view.
